Mt. Sembrano 745+

December 2016 - Mt. Sembrano, Pililla, Rizal

Our assembly time at EDSA Crossing was at 4:30 am. I was with Manuel and we met up with Elle on time but due to unexpected events we had to wait for our friend Justine and his partner Henry for an hour. When they arrived, we hurriedly went to the terminal and we were lucky to catch a jeepney bound to Tanay, Rizal. We did not expect that the trip would be too long and tiring but when we reached Tanay, Louise was already waiting for us and all together we took another jeepney ride to Pililla and asked to be dropped off at Barangay Malaya. As soon as we had our breakfast at a nearby carinderia, we registered at the barangay and hired a guide. We started trekking at around 8:30am.

The ascent was just gradual and I enjoyed seeing the forest trees and the streams running and flowing over rocks. The weather was cloudy and it drizzled at times which made the trail a bit wet and muddy. Hence, it made our trek more challenging. We rested for a while in the "manggahan" station and went on to assault the summit.

Gradual ascent to the summit

We were so happy to see the grassy slopes. When we reached the summit area, we couldn't help but lay on the grass to rest and enjoy the gust of wind. After a couple of minutes, Louise, Elle and I decided to continue to the next peak but the others stayed to doze off.
