2007 - San Juanico Bridge, Tacloban, Leyte |
The most recent trip back to the Eastern Visayas was in 2007. My aunt and grandma needed to resolve and settle things out regarding land & properties there. I went along since I was on vacation from work. We had a smooth flight from Manila to Tacloban, travel time was for an hour. We were fetched by a friend who drove for us going to Sulat, Eastern Samar. It was a 6-hour drive from Tacloban, still we decided to head the opposite direction, lol.
We stopped by the McArthur Landing Memorial Park, which is located in Palo, Leyte, 30 minutes away from Tacloban. We stayed there for awhile to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and took some pictures. Then, on our way back, it took us another hour to reach the well-known bridge. The San Juanico Bridge was built to connect Leyte and Samar islands, it is also 2 kilometers long. There were no vehicles crossing at that time, so we had our chance of a lifetime to stop and take some snapshots, lol.
